What's the difference between CDS and ERW tube?

Our CDS tube (cold drawn seamless) has superior physical properties over ERW mild steel. It is driven through a number of production processes to produce a seamless tube. Starting out as hot billets, which are pierced and rolled to reduce their diameter and elongate the material. It is then passed through a die and over a mandrel plug, to produce an accurate size and gauge, which is the essence of the cold drawing process. Each stage of this controlled process is monitored so the end result has improved accuracy and tolerance. Without a seam the cds round tube is stronger and can be machined with ease.

ERW Tube Suppliers

Our ERW round tube (electric resistance welding), is manufactured in a very different way however, the final steel tube is a good general purpose steel. It's a shorter production method which is therefore cheaper to produce. Starting from a steel strip it is passed through a series of forming rollers to obtain a longitudinal seam. The two edges are then simultaneously heated with a high frequency electric resistance current and pushed together to produce a strong bond. Since this method of seam welding doesn't include any fusion metals, the tube or pipe is both strong and durable.
