Just what is Kick Plate?

We've all seen them... they lurk at the bottom of hospital swing doors, factory doors and just about every pub bathroom door in the country. Some appear uniform and others more unique, hey... we even find they've moved and shot up the door to be beside the handle. Why is this?

Kick Plate

The answer is simple, protection and cleanliness. Kick plates and Hand plates are added to areas where there is a high likely hood of impacts to protect from bumps, scratches and other forms of impact damage. It could be from a moving hospital bed being pushed through a set of swing doors or someone pushing the door open with their foot. These plates take the brunt of the impact protecting the surface beneath. Hand plates offer the same protections but offer the added benefits as Kick plate but also provide an easy to sanitise surface to help prevent the spread of germs and other invisible nasties. The best thing about these plates is that after taking all that abuse they can then be polished and/or cleaned and look as good as when they were fitted.

Hand Plate

Kick Plates are typically made from either aluminium or stainless steel due to their hardwearing nature, but they can be made from any metal including Brass. Here at Aluminium Warehouse we primarily offer these plates in aluminium either in a smooth finish or in Treadplate. However if you want plates in another material please contact our customer service staff who can assist you.
